For many years, Douglas Freeman High School has participated and excelled in the We the People program, a nationwide competition of knowledge of American government, history, and Constitutional law. In April, our students finished 5th at the National Finals! In the previous 4 years, our students also finished in the top 10: 6th, 3rd, 2nd, and 6th. This sustained excellence is a tribute to the students and their hard work, year after year. They have built and maintained an impressive legacy.
We face a challenge, however. The Center for Civic Education has changed the textbook for the coming year. It is an essential element in the students' preparations. While we are applying for grants to help defray costs, and because we are not on-cycle for the purchasing of new textbooks, we are asking for your financial support. Please consider donating to our textbook fund. A new book is $65, but any amount is greatly appreciated. These books will used by students in our AP Government classes for many years. Please help us keep this very valuable program strong.
If you click on the Donate Now button, it will take you to a secure Henrico County server where you can donate in any denomination you choose.
We appreciate your support!
